My field of study is design/ Don't laugh or roll your eyes/ I wanna make you cry with my designs/ It's more than a pipe dream/ just a thought or wishful thinking/ It's the act of honing God's gift/ giving blood sweat tears and even spit/ upon the one's the doubt/ When they laugh you don't back out/ Push your weight around to show clout/ What defines excellence/ it's the state, quality or condition of excelling/ smelling, dwelling/ propelling against gravity/ One fopa IS a passive attitude/ You have to be aggressive/ show humility and gratitude/ I stay up late nights with logos twitching in my sights/ Slogans flashing in lights/ I write em down/ Thumbs nails I draw em out/ Being disciplined is what it's about/ NOW/ What defines excellence is/ the ability to take risks, innovate and break the grid/ Stepping out of their comfort-zone is what the greats did/ From Saul Bass, Neville Brody to David Carson/ They all found their niche and ran with it/ Each passed the torch & paved the way for future misfits/ Carson's grudge layouts change the way we see signs/ Change the way our eyes follow lines/ Changed our mind on conventional design period/ See/ What I've learned is to take your talents and thoughts seriously/ because every idea HAS potential energy/ So whatever is inside/ set it free/ Splatter and let it be/ Launch, spawn & conceive/ Meet the dragon and slay the beast/ Stay hungry and devour doubt as your feast/ because we ALL have discouraging debris in our peace/ We must pluck out every negative leaf in the tree/ I love to use these as analogies/ First plant the seed/ Watering meaning study or practice/ Sharpen your tactics and see what beautiful thing grows out/ Staying positive is what excellence is all about/ I mean we're all stems in the tree just try'na stick out/ right? Striving for excellence to us means/ to never give up or never give in/
